this is lyrically obtuse and dumb/pretentious. I don't really even know how to talk about it. it's sort of about finding a charming human and wanting to do everything for them so they like you back, and how what we're obsessed with is controlled by others and we both can and can't choose to know why we like what we do. it's about a frustrated bisexual virgin whose parents worry about her and how shiny, funny people are often sad and very sensitive and protect themselves by deflecting the serious, deep connection that they may also crave. it's about worrying about making a fuss about your mental state. it's about grinding through a tough time and being afraid to tell someone how hard things are. it's about some sort of Sisyphean effort, but with a little bit more of a light at the end of the tunnel?
lyrics
Disarm me with earnestness
a bird is in a burning fist
i'll help you with your steel wool shirt
i'll help you with your broken foot
fix and fixation depend on
dicks intent on dictating
when to nix the nictitating lens
but the crop is in your hand.
back to the wheel
back to the wheel
back to the wheel
front to the wheel
wringin' out a rag of gray water
God, just watch your half-gay daughter
clawing like a starving cat
craving a seminal act
mind the skew from GMT
and if she sleeps in another city
don't go as insane as grease
hoppin out the pan
back to the wheel
back to the wheel
back to the wheel
front to the wheel
i dare you to
walk naked into a den of empaths
bold as a moth
you're funny,
so show me your deep and crafted
well of pathos
back to the wheel
back to the wheel
back to the wheel
(but if you make it a big deal they won't be there)
back to the wheel
(but if you make it a big deal they won't be there)
back to the wheel
(but if you make it a big deal they won't be there)
back to the wheel
(but if you make it a big deal they won't be there)
back to the wheel
front to the wheel
